SIMPLE ISA INFO

Effective date: 22 July 2026

This policy explains how Curio handles information when you use the macOS application.

The short version

Curio is designed as a private, local asset library.

  • Curio does not require an account.
  • Curio does not upload your creative assets to us.
  • Curio does not use advertising or tracking technologies.
  • Curio does not sell or share your personal information.
  • Your library, previews, notes and file-location information remain on your Mac.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.

Information stored by Curio

Curio stores the information required to manage your asset library locally on your Mac. This may include:

  • Asset names, categories and notes.
  • Copies of master and output files you add to the library.
  • Preview images and media.
  • References to the original locations of source files.
  • File names, modification dates and publishing dates.
  • Related asset states and your selected preview.
  • Local preferences, such as review-prompt milestones.

This information is used solely to provide Curio’s library, preview, search, publishing, relinking and drag-and-drop functionality.

Curio does not transmit this library information to the developer.

File access

Curio accesses only files and folders you explicitly select or drag into the application.

The application stores its own library copies and may retain secure references to original source locations so that it can:

  • Open the original file when you choose Edit Master.
  • Detect whether a source file has changed.
  • Update the library copy when you explicitly request it.
  • Help you locate and relink files that have been moved or renamed.

Curio never automatically overwrites your original source files.

Removing an asset from Curio removes its managed library copies but does not delete or modify the original source files.

In-app purchases

Curio offers an optional lifetime unlock through Apple’s App Store.

Purchases and restorations are processed by Apple using StoreKit. Curio receives only the information necessary to determine whether the lifetime unlock is active. We do not receive or store your payment-card information, Apple Account credentials or complete purchasing history.

Apple processes purchase information according to its own privacy policy.

Ratings and reviews

Curio may ask macOS to display Apple’s standard App Store rating prompt after certain successful asset creations.

Apple controls whether the prompt appears and processes any rating or review you submit. Curio does not receive your Apple Account details through this process.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

Curio does not include:

  • Third-party analytics services.
  • Advertising networks.
  • Cross-app or cross-website tracking.
  • User profiling.
  • Automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.

Information you provide when contacting us

If you contact us for support, we may receive information such as your email address, name and the contents of your message.

We use this information only to:

  • Respond to your request.
  • Investigate technical problems.
  • Maintain necessary records of the support conversation.

The lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing support and maintaining Curio.

Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain appropriate business records or meet legal obligations.

Please avoid sending confidential creative assets or personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.

Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Information may be disclosed only where reasonably necessary:

  • To Apple for App Store purchasing and related platform services.
  • To service providers used to operate our email or website, where applicable.
  • To comply with a legal obligation or valid legal request.
  • To protect our legal rights or the safety of others.

Any service provider acting on our behalf must handle information appropriately and only for the relevant service.

Data retention and deletion

Your Curio library remains on your Mac until you remove assets or uninstall the application.

You control your locally stored library data through the application and macOS. Because we do not receive a server copy of your library, we cannot access, recover or remotely delete it.

Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, legal and record-keeping purposes.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information held about you, including the rights to:

  • Request access to it.
  • Request correction or deletion.
  • Restrict or object to its processing.
  • Request a portable copy where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

These rights generally apply only to information we actually possess. They do not apply to Curio library data that remains exclusively on your Mac.

To exercise a privacy right, contact us using the address below.

UK users may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children’s privacy

Curio is not designed to collect personal information from children. The application does not require an account and does not transmit library contents to us.

Security

Curio uses Apple’s application sandbox and system file-access mechanisms to limit access to files selected by the user.

No system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining suitable backups and protecting access to your Mac and source files.

International transfers

Curio does not transfer your locally stored library to us.

Apple and any providers used for support email or website hosting may process limited information in other countries under their own legal safeguards and privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if Curio’s functionality, legal obligations or data-handling practices change.

The current version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably appropriate.
