Auralis is a simple macOS media player for local audio and video files. It is designed for playing your own files, building playlists, and browsing music by songs, albums, and videos.
Opening Media
To add media to Auralis:
- Open Auralis.
- Click the + button in the toolbar.
- Choose one or more audio or video files.
- Click Open.
You can also import a whole album folder. Auralis will add the supported audio files inside the folder and group them as an album where possible.
Library
The sidebar is organised into:
- All Songs: all imported audio tracks, including songs that are part of albums.
- Videos: imported video files.
- Albums: album folders or album metadata groups.
- Playlists: playlists you create yourself.
Click a section in the sidebar to view its media.
Playing Media
Select a file in the sidebar, then press Play.
The playback controls let you:
- Play or pause
- Restart the current track
- Skip back 10 seconds
- Skip forward 10 seconds
- Move to the previous track
- Move to the next track
- Adjust volume
- Scrub through the timeline
When a track finishes, Auralis automatically plays the next item in the current album, playlist, or library section. When it reaches the end, it returns to the first item.
Albums
If you import a folder containing an album, Auralis can group the songs together under Albums.
Album artwork is shown when it is embedded in the audio file. If no artwork is available, Auralis shows a simple placeholder image.
Deleting an album removes the album grouping from the library, but does not remove separately imported songs from playlists.
Playlists
To create a playlist:
- Click New Playlist in the sidebar.
- Enter a playlist name.
- Add songs or videos from the library.
To add an item to a playlist:
- Right-click the item.
- Choose Add to Playlist.
- Select the playlist.
You can reorder items in playlists by dragging them, or by using the move controls shown beside each item.
Videos and Full Screen
Auralis supports local video playback.
When playing a video, use the full-screen control to enter a video-focused view. In full screen, move the pointer near the edge of the screen to bring back the sidebar or playback controls.
Missing Files
If a file has been moved or renamed outside Auralis, the app may not be able to play it.
To fix this:
- Right-click the missing item.
- Choose Locate File…
- Select the file in its new location.
Reveal in Finder
To find an imported file on your Mac:
- Right-click the item.
- Choose Reveal in Finder.
Auralis Pro
Auralis includes a free daily playback allowance. After the free allowance is used, playback requires Auralis Pro.
Auralis Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited daily playback.
To unlock Pro:
- Click Unlock Pro in the sidebar, or choose Auralis Pro > Unlock Auralis Pro… from the menu bar.
- Complete the purchase through the App Store.
To restore a previous purchase, choose Auralis Pro > Restore Purchase from the menu bar.
Privacy
Auralis plays local files on your Mac. Your media files, playlists, and library are not uploaded by Auralis.
